Bringing Nature Home

This display was designed for the Royal Horticultural Society as part of their Bringing Nature Home campaign, and it highlighted the role gardens can play in supporting biodiversity.

The project centred on a simple idea: it is diversity in planting that creates resilient, nature-rich gardens. Surrounding the display, a series of planting zones — woodland, meadow, dry, wetland and productive — demonstrated how different conditions and plant communities can all contribute to supporting wildlife.

At its centre, a timber structure, inspired by terraced housing, provided space for interpretation and interaction. Visitors could  explore live biodiversity reporting and learn how to observe and record wildlife in their own spaces, helping to build confidence and awareness.

The display also rethought familiar garden elements — such as composting and deadwood — as valuable habitat. Rather than presenting a single model, it encouraged an open approach, showing that every garden, regardless of scale or style, can play a part in supporting nature.
